Krav Maga Classes

Krav Maga ™ Level 1:

This is the entry level for everyone into Krav MagaTM. In level 1 you will learn the basics you will need to progress to higher levels as well as skills that will immediately make you safer in your daily walk. We will do our best to teach you to recognize a danger before it happens and how to avoid it. You will learn SOFT skills that do very little harm to anyone but gets the message across that you wish to be left alone. There are 48 skills in level 1 that are easy for anyone to learn because they are based on instinctive reactions and simple in technique.

The curriculum includes defenses against:

  • chokes
  • bear hugs
  • wrist grabs
  • head locks
  • how to defend from the ground
  • hair grabs
  • being slapped or punched

You will learn how to punch, kick, knee, and elbow in a multitude of scenarios and combinations that will allow you to leave safely after executing a self-defense technique. You may come to us as one of the 80% of the American adult population that cannot pass a simple fitness test or one of the 67% who walk in fear for their safety but you will not leave that way. During each class you will punch, kick knee, elbow and strike 4 different size and shape bags that will help get you into the best shape of your life. Each class will incorporate attack scenarios using the bags to allow you to recognize the danger and what skills and techniques to apply. The idea is to simulate as closely as we can what a real assault is like within very strict safety guide lines.

Krav Maga Level 2 and Above

After level one each level includes approximately 35-40 new skills. The emphasis at each of these levels is to help you perfect the skills you already know while learning and applying the new skills and techniques. In advanced level 2 you will be introduced to weapons defense against knife, gun and blunt object. You will also be introduced to Attack DRILLS. This is not sparring, but drills designed to teach the fundamentals of how to apply your skills in an actual attack, but just as importantly how to think, what to look for, recognize weaknesses in the attacker and how to eliminate the threat as quickly and safely as possible.

It is at level 3 that you will get your full intro into weapons defense. We will cover many different attack scenarios and defenses. You will also learn to defend against multiple attackers. There will be sparring drills at this level and in advanced level 3, controlled full contact sparring with instructor approval. Full contact sparring is ALWAYS voluntary.

Intro to Fight: 30 minutes

The goal of this class is to become proficient and confident in our skills to strike, defend and clinch against another person. The class will focus on balance, striking with focus mitts, strike defense, and clinch sparring. As these skills develop, we will move into light sparring drills and, ultimately, to full sparring (only for those interested). It is important to note that size, age or gender plays NO PART in this class. Our drills and exercises stress working with technique. We deemphasize using physical advantages against our partners because one may not enjoy the same advantages over a different partner. This class is NOT INTENDED for those who wish to compete in MMA. Instead, this class is intended for those interested in putting their skills to the test in a controlled, fun environment.
